ANNUAL CONCERT, 2016 (SENIOR SCHOOL)
Description:
St. Mary’s Convent High School, Kanpur hosted its Annual Concert for the Senior Section (that is class VI – XII) on 12th November, 2016. The Chief Guest for the evening was Brigadier V.M. Sharma and the Guest of Honour was Mr. Arvind Kumar Mishra, ADJ. The programme commenced with an invocation to the Almighty ‘Ish Vandana’. This was followed by ‘Scintillating Ripples’ which was a blend of various western dance forms. ‘Liliput Nights’, a comedy highlighting the importance of education, sent the audience into peals of laughter. Next was ‘Mile Sur Mera Tumhara’ which gave the message of unity in diversity as it depicted the folk dances of the various states of India. The melodious rendition of the English and Hindi songs enchanted all present. Hindi dance drama ’Bhartiya Sanskriti ke Unnayak’ highlighted the message of the great social reformer, Swami Vivekanand. The classical dance item ‘Navgrah Kalyanam’ was a beautiful depiction of the harmony among the planets. Next was the English play ‘The Monkey’s Paw’ which highlighted the disastrous effect of superstitions on human life. Through a miming act by the students, the SMC family paid a tribute to our soldiers, who gave up their lives for their country. The programme concluded with a mesmerising orchestra recital. The Chief Guest encouraged the students with his inspiring words and wished them the best for their future. In the end, the Principal, Sister Divya C.J. proposed the Vote of Thanks and applauded the efforts of all those who contributed to the success of the programme.
