Dear Parents and Friends,

“Women in time to come will do much” was the prophetic words of Mother Mary Ward, an English Lady who founded the ‘Congregation of Jesus’ in 1609. Mother Mary Ward had great faith in the capacity of women to ‘do much’ for the welfare of the society. Inspired by this great Lady, the Sisters of the ‘Congregation of Jesus’ opened schools all over the world, to educate and empower the girl-children.

St.Mary’s Convent High School, Kanpur, established in 1899, is one such school which imparts education of the heart, mind, body and soul, which helps the children to form integrated personalities by developing in them a strong character, love of truth, respect, loyalty, a sense of justice and necessity for honest, hard work. Along with imparting a value based education, we instill in them social and environmental consciousness which enables them to stand with the marginalized and weaker sections of the society, to work together for our earth and responsible use of natural resources.

I gratefully acknowledge and put on record the valuable contribution made by the C.J.Sisters, Teachers, Parents, Students, friends and well-wishers of this great Institution in the past, making us the beneficiaries of such a rich legacy today. Inspired by Mother Mary Ward, focused on our goal,, strengthened by the spirit of community among the Management, Staff and Parents of SMC, let us continue the noble task of educating the young, entrusted to our care, and thus creating good human beings, better citizens and a better tomorrow for all to live happily in love, peace and justice.
