Description:
"Charity begins at home."
On the 18th of December, a group of student members of Friends of Mary Wardfrom Class VIII, Student President and Vice President of Class IX from Class VIIIalong with Sister Bridgette, FMW President Mrs.R. Gill and Vice President Mrs. Tulika Ghosh visited an old age home near Chandari.
The happy faces of the elderly people greeted us.They always long to meet people who would help them to dispel dismay and helplessness from their lives for some time. The students distributed woollen gloves, mufflers and socksalong with daily essentials like detergent powder, soaps and eatables. The students recited poems, sang carols and performed a dancewhich they enjoyed. They were overwhelmed with happiness.
Our school presented shawls to keep them warm during these winter months. We experienced satisfaction and happiness seeing their smiling faces.
We all returned school pondering on the interaction which we had with the elderly. We were shocked to know that many of them had been abandoned by their family members.
We felt that we should be responsible individuals and take care of our families. We should contribute to such old age homes.
