Description:
SMC, Kanpur had its Annual Concert ‘Myriad Hues of Joy’ for the Primary School on 21st November, 2014. The tiny tots enthusiastically displayed their talent before an august gathering. The occasion was graced by the presence of Dr. Roshan Jacob, the District Magistrate of Kanpur, who was the Chief Guest for the day. The Guest of Honour was Mr. Amit Kumar, CEO, Cantt. Board. The programme commenced with a prayer dance, whereby the Almighty’s blessings were sought for the success of the programme.
This was followed by a recitation by the little folks which expressed the views of a butterfly and a caterpillar. The Biblical play ‘From Darkness to Light’ dramatised the story of the ‘Return of Prodigal Son.’ ‘Samanvay’ was a colourful blending of the folk dances of India. The children of Class I enthralled the audience with their performance in ‘Nurture the Nature.’ The story of Cinderella was depicted as an opera where the audience was carried to a fantasy land of fairies. ‘Jhankar’ was the coming together of the different classical dance forms. The comic play ‘Kasba Bechara’ exposed the fact that the people of small towns and villages are exploited by the corrupt politicians. The Choir rendered melodiously the songs, ‘Cherishable Moments’, ‘Little Dimpled Me’ and ‘Choti Si Aasha’.
The next programme was the western dance, wherein the children mesmerised the audience with their dance moves, showing their skill in Hip-hop, Salsa and Free Style dance forms. The show concluded with the primary orchestra band playing tunefully the songs ‘Lara’s Theme’ from Dr. Zhivago and ‘Tujhse naraaz nahin’.
In the end, the principal of the school, Sister Divya C.J., proposed a vote of thanks to all those who had taken their time off their busy schedule to be present on the occasion.
