The Annual Concert for the Senior School of SMC, Kanpur, ‘St. Marian Fiesta, 2014’ was held on 22nd November, 2014. The programme was graced by the presence of Air Commodore Daljit Singh, who was the Chief Guest for the day. The Guest of Honour was Rev. Sr. Sumita C.J., Provincial Superior of the C.J. Sisters of Allahabad Province. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp and the Vandana Dance, whereby God’s Blessings were invoked. The rendition of Michael Jackson’s song “Will you be there for me” and Hindi song “Khwabon ki Udaan” by the Senior School Choir enthralled the audience. The comic play “The winner is….Honesty” gave the message that honesty is always rewarding. The Fusion of Indian and Western dance forms was a visual delight for the audience. ‘Chandalika’, the Hindi dance drama by the Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore powerfully conveyed the message that discrimination on the basis of caste system should be condemned. ‘Unity in diversity’, which is one of the hallmarks of the Indian culture was reflected through the vibrant blending of various folk dance forms in the programme ‘Colours of Happiness’. William Shakespeare’s Macbeth was dramatised skilfully by the senior children. The mime act ‘Mobile Frenzy’ showed how the use of mobile has become an addiction for its users. The programme ‘Ritu Chakra’ depicted the four stages of human life through different classical dance forms. The colourful extravaganza came to its final phase with the Senior orchestra band playing melodious music on different musical instruments.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the principal of the school, Sister Divya C.J., who thanked all the people present.
